The story

VINOTHEK by Geisel: Michelin-Recommended Wine Bar in Munich

A Wine Bar with Character

Between Karlsplatz and the Hauptbahnhof, VINOTHEK by Geisel is a Munich wine bar built around a shared love for good food and excellent wine. With a selection of 700 bottles from Europe and beyond, and a rotating lineup of open wines, it offers one of the city’s most impressive wine lists. The atmosphere is charming and relaxed, with outdoor seating in good weather.

Chef Benedikt Arps

Since June 2024, chef Benedikt Arps has led the kitchen. A native of Schleswig-Holstein, he trained at the Ambassador Hotel & Spa in St. Peter-Ording and later worked at the AROSA Resort before becoming head chef at the two-Michelin-star Söl’ring Hof. At VINOTHEK, he crafts a menu that combines regional and Mediterranean lightness, using seasonal ingredients from local producers. The cooking is marked by freshness and a subtle herbaceous note.

Mediterranean-Inspired Dining

Homemade pasta and Mediterranean-inspired specialities are the heart of the menu. A three-course menu is available Monday to Friday for 72 euros, and a lunch menu for 36 euros. The kitchen table in the show kitchen offers an exclusive experience for groups of 10 to 16, with a four-course menu starting at 85.50 euros per person. The wine bar also hosts private dinners, wine tastings, and celebrations, with a private room available.

Michelin Recommended

The quality of the food and wine has earned VINOTHEK by Geisel a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026.

A Fresh Start

After a brief closure for a change of operator, the wine bar has reopened and is welcoming guests again. It is open Monday to Friday from noon to midnight, with warm cuisine served from 12:00 to 14:30 and 17:30 to 21:00. Classic dishes are available throughout the day.
