The story
At Bistro oma & enkel, cooking is a bridge between generations. The team honours the essence of Franconian home cooking—the kind grandmothers once made—and translates it into dishes that feel both familiar and new. They work with regional ingredients and modern techniques, taking classic flavours and giving them a fresh, contemporary expression without losing their soul. The result is country cooking rooted in tradition yet confidently forward-looking.
Head chef Sandra Hofer leads the kitchen, offering guests two main ways to explore this modernised country cooking. The popular Franconian tapas let you sample several small plates in a relaxed, sharing style—perfect for a casual evening. For a deeper experience, the signature menu takes you on a longer tasting journey, each course built around the same philosophy: respect for local produce, playful technique, and a warm sense of nostalgia made new. The kitchen’s connection to the wider Posthotel’s network of over 70 regional producers ensures every ingredient tells a story of Franconian land and craft.
The bistro’s committed, heartfelt approach to country cooking has earned it a Michelin Recommended 2026 award. It is part of the Posthotel Alexander Herrmann’s gourmet worlds, which also includes the two-Michelin-starred Restaurant AURA, but oma & enkel stands on its own as a place where tradition and innovation meet on the plate. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, designed for lingering over a meal that feels both personal and expertly made—just like a grandmother’s best recipe, updated for today.
