The story
Mâm Amis brings a Vietnamese French-inspired concept to Hong Kong’s Sheung Wan district. The name itself tells the story: “Mâm” means feast in Vietnamese, “Amis” means friends in French. Together, they promise a feast of friends – and that is exactly what this restaurant delivers.
The kitchen focuses on shareable plates built around the art of charcoal grilling, a signature cooking method that anchors the menu. Dishes are designed for the table, encouraging the communal spirit that defines Vietnamese cuisine. The setting is warm and inviting, with a nod to nature and nostalgia, making it a natural fit for both intimate dinners and lively celebrations.
This approach to Vietnamese cuisine earned Mâm Amis a Michelin Recommended distinction in the 2026 guide, placing it among Hong Kong’s notable dining destinations.
The bar program at Mâm Amis is equally thoughtful. Called “An Ode to Thanh,” it pays homage to Huong Thanh, a Vietnamese musician and cultural icon based in Paris. Developed by acclaimed mixologist Raphael Holzer, the cocktails blend Vietnamese heritage with modern techniques, echoing the restaurant’s own cultural exchange between Vietnam and France.
The menu offers a range of options: a set lunch, a la carte dishes, desserts, and a dedicated drinks menu. Afternoon tea is also available. The restaurant welcomes walk-ins and reservations alike, and its outdoor seating adds to the relaxed, festive atmosphere.
Whether you come for a business dinner or a casual gathering, Mâm Amis turns every meal into a celebration – no excuse needed. As they put it, “You don’t need an excuse to gather and indulge in the vibrant flavours of Vietnamese cuisine.”
