The story
In the alpine village of Cogne, Lou Ressignon has been a cornerstone of local hospitality since 1966. It was then that Arturo Allera, a ski instructor and restaurateur, opened the doors of what translates in the local patois to "the night snack." Alongside his sister Elda and his wife Jose, he began serving the finest dishes of the Aosta Valley tradition in a setting that remains warm and rustic to this day.
The restaurant’s philosophy is rooted in continuity and innovation, a balance now upheld by Arturo's children, Davide and Elisabetta, and their dedicated staff. The menu at Lou Ressignon is a celebration of classic Italian cuisine, with a strong emphasis on the region's culinary heritage. Traditional dishes are the star, complemented by a careful selection of meats, fish, local cheeses, and cured meats, all presented in a refined yet welcoming fine dining atmosphere. The dessert menu, too, honors tradition, offering a sweet conclusion to any meal.
Beyond the restaurant, Lou Ressignon is also a locanda, welcoming guests with tastefully furnished double rooms in a bed and breakfast style. On Fridays and Saturdays, the taverna comes alive, as evenings end in cheer with dancing and conversation around the fireplace in one of the Aosta Valley's most historic gathering spots. This Michelin-recommended address offers a complete experience of Valle d’Aosta’s warmth—from its classic cuisine to its inviting spaces.
