The story
Just outside Brunico, in the quiet frazione of Ronchi, Lerchner's In Runggen is a small restaurant that feels like a short holiday in the mountains. Chef Johann Lerchner, a collector of recipes and self-described "rocker at heart," worked in high-level kitchens before returning to his family farm to open a place of his own. Here, together with his daughter Sandra and a dedicated team, he reinterprets traditional South Tyrolean cuisine with a modern, seasonal approach.
The guiding principle is "from farm to table." Uncle Raimund raises Simmental, Grey Alpine, and Pustertaler Sprinzen cattle with passion and years of know-how. Vegetables and other ingredients come from nearby growers and farmers, ensuring traceable origins and peak freshness. The menu changes constantly, always regional, always sustainable. This commitment to quality and sustainability earned the restaurant a Michelin Green Star, and it is also recognized as a Slow Food restaurant. In 2026, the Michelin guide awarded it a Bib Gourmand for good quality, good value cooking.
The atmosphere is one of a peaceful oasis. Dishes are rooted in the alpine farm tradition but given a light, contemporary hand. The wine list focuses on the best of South Tyrolean winemaking, chosen to complement the seasonal, locally sourced South Tyrolean cuisine. Lerchner's is open Wednesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner, with a brief pause on Monday and Tuesday. It is a place where the love for the land and the craft of cooking come together in every plate.
