The story
Tucked into the medieval hamlet of Noce, near Vicopisano, Osteria Vecchia Noce occupies an ancient olive mill dating back to the 1700s. The original cross-vaulted brick ceilings remain, paired with contemporary furnishings that create an atmosphere both warm and refined. This is a place where history breathes quietly in the stone walls, yet the spirit is very much of the present.
Massimo and Daniela founded the restaurant in 1987, and today their son Alessandro carries the tradition forward with quiet dedication. Alessandro also curates the remarkable wine cellar—over 600 labels spanning the best of Tuscany, Italian classics, and international bottles. His sommelier expertise brings thoughtful pairings to every meal, whether by the glass or through guided tastings.
The menu follows the rhythm of the seasons. In autumn, porcini mushrooms from Garfagnana and white truffles from San Miniato appear; spring and summer bring fresh fish from the Tyrrhenian Sea. Handmade pasta, artisanal desserts, and a careful selection of local meats—wild boar, hare, and organic cuts—anchor a kitchen that respects Tuscan cuisine while leaving room for subtle, modern touches. The cooking is direct, ingredient-driven, and deeply satisfying.
This dedication to quality and authenticity has earned the restaurant a place among Michelin’s recommended addresses. It is a recognition that feels natural here: the Osteria Vecchia Noce does not chase trends but serves honest, beautifully executed Tuscan cuisine in a setting that quietly charms.
The restaurant’s private dining room and garden accommodate events from weddings to business dinners, with menus tailored to the occasion. A gift card program invites guests to share the experience. But the heart of Osteria Vecchia Noce remains the daily table—a place where the past and the present meet over a plate of handmade pasta, a glass of local wine, and the unhurried hospitality of a family that has been welcoming guests for nearly four decades.
