The story
On a lawn beneath the stars of Cefalù, Cala Luna offers a fine dining experience that pairs open-kitchen cooking with a sweeping panorama stretching from the sea to the Faraglioni della Caldura and the Rocca. On cooler days, the experience moves indoors to the elegant panoramic dining room, Rizz’i Mari. Since 2023, Cala Luna has been Recommended by the MICHELIN Guide Italy.
Chef Dario Pandolfo trained at ALMA, the International School of Italian Cuisine, under Gualtiero Marchesi. Early in his career, he worked in some of Europe’s most renowned restaurants, including Geranium (), Vila Joya (*), Terra (), and St. Hubertus (***) in San Cassiano alongside Norbert Niederkofler. Since 2022, Chef Pandolfo has led the kitchen at Cala Luna, crafting a fine dining experience that celebrates Sicilian gastronomy.
Chef Pandolfo’s cooking is the result of a long journey back to Sicily with a clear vision: place ingredients and the people who cultivate them at the center. An essential approach, grounded in the work of farmers, fishermen, and artisans, where nature dictates the rhythm. A short supply chain, built on trust and ethics, guides every choice. Technique follows the ingredient, respects its seasonality, and transforms each dish into a fragment of the territory. This is contemporary Sicilian cuisine at its most honest.
On cooler evenings, the experience moves to the first-floor Rizz’i Mari dining room. Here, a vibrant open kitchen, designed by Marrone, allows guests to watch the brigade at work. Those who wish can take a seat at the chef’s table in the kitchen itself. In spring and autumn, this cream-toned space, enriched with porcelains, ceramics, crystal, and furnishings inspired by the tables of ancient Sicilian noble families, provides an ideal setting for Chef Pandolfo’s creations.
The wine list pays homage to the two regions that have marked Chef Pandolfo’s path: Sicily – a true continent of diverse terroirs – and the mountains of Alto Adige. Curated by the sommelier, it balances iconic labels with unexpected discoveries, from fresh, elegant wines of the Dolomites to the natural expressions of Etna and Sicily’s smaller islands. A selection designed to reflect Cala Luna’s cuisine, deeply tied to the land.
