The story
At Olio, just outside Milan in Origgio, the ingredient is king. Fish caught fresh each day from the Mediterranean and vegetables grown in the restaurant’s own gardens and greenhouses form the heart of the menu. The kitchen takes a refined, precise approach to Italian Contemporary cooking, letting the quality of the raw materials speak. Extra virgin olive oil from Lake Garda’s Olearia Caldera runs through every dish, tying the project to its name.
Olio’s team selects fish daily from Milan’s market and trusted Italian suppliers, prioritising sustainability and traceability. The restaurant’s roots are in the soil: stone beds, greenhouses, and citrus groves supply many of the vegetables and herbs used. This commitment to freshness and seasonality earned Olio a Michelin star, recognition of its uncompromising standards. A separate, entirely gluten-free kitchen also serves coeliac diners, a rare detail that reflects the restaurant’s care for every guest’s experience.
Set in a restored space that blends indoor elegance with outdoor greenery, Olio offers a warm, unhurried atmosphere. The bistro is open for weekday lunch, while the restaurant serves dinner Tuesday through Saturday and Sunday lunch. With outdoor seating, wheelchair access, and ample parking, it is a destination for seafood-focused Italian Contemporary dining that feels both refined and genuinely welcoming.
