The story
Overlooking the old port of Porto Cervo, Italo Bassi Confusion Restaurant occupies an elegant, contemporary space on the Promenade du Port. Warm Mediterranean light and refined furnishings set the tone for a dining experience that balances exclusivity with comfort. The service is measured and attentive, anticipating guests' needs with discretion, turning each visit into something memorable.
Born in 1969 in Fusignano, Ravenna, Italo Bassi trained at the Michelin-starred Trigabolo in Argenta under chefs Igles Corelli and Bruno Barbieri. A formative stint at Piacenza’s Osteria del Teatro led him, at 19, to the legendary Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence. There he rose to head chef and, in 2003, helped the restaurant achieve its third Michelin star. After decades as a global ambassador for Italian cuisine—opening kitchens in Tokyo, New York, Paris, Dubai, and beyond—Bassi opened Confusion Verona in 2013, then Confusion Restaurant in Porto Cervo in 2016.
In 2019, Confusion Restaurant became the first restaurant in Costa Smeralda history to earn a Michelin star. The star has been reconfirmed every year through 2026, a testament to Bassi’s consistent, evolving vision. In 2025, his Corsican outpost Finestra Bonifacio also earned a star, making Bassi the only Italian chef to hold Michelin stars in both Italy and France.
The cuisine at Confusion Restaurant is contemporary haute cuisine guided by technical rigor and deep respect for Italian tradition. Menus are built as gastronomic itineraries, drawing on local Sardinian ingredients—often zero-kilometer—that express the island’s character. Freshness, seasonality, and identity drive every creation. The result is cooking that is essential yet intense, precise and elegant, transforming regional produce into refined sensory experiences.
Alongside the tasting menus, guests can explore an extensive wine list. The restaurant also features the Bubble Bar Bistrot & Shisha Lounge, a more convivial space that opened in 2024, offering accessible, thoughtfully prepared food without sacrificing the Confusion style.
Open seasonally from April 23 to September 29, 2026, Italo Bassi Confusion Restaurant stands as a destination for those who seek excellence—where technique meets memory, and simplicity becomes a form of luxury.
