The story
Since 1968, the Compagnucci family has been welcoming guests to their intimate trattoria on Via Satrico. What began with Domenico’s passion for sharing genuine Roman cooking continues today under Arnaldo Compagnucci, who balances beloved classics with thoughtful refinement. The restaurant’s commitment to quality and value has earned it a Michelin Bib Gourmand—a recognition that encourages diners to step away from the tourist routes and discover an authentic Roman experience.
Inside, the dining room is warm and classy, with mirrors, soft lighting, and candles creating an intimate mood. When Rome’s climate allows, a handful of outdoor tables offer a quieter alternative. With up to 45 seats, the space feels personal, never crowded.
The kitchen stays rooted in the traditions of cucina romana. Antipasti like fried anchovies or salt cod carpaccio lead into primi such as tonnarelli cacio e pepe, spaghetti all’amatriciana, and mezzemaniche alla gricia. Heartier secondi include coda alla vaccinara (oxtail stew), trippa alla romana, and lamb chops. For those seeking vegetables, seasonal contorni like carciofi alla giudia and puntarelle shine. Desserts are simple house-made sweets and fruit.
The wine list focuses on the best labels from Lazio—Casale del Giglio, Fontana Candida, Sant’Apollaria—alongside local craft beers. Every dish can be paired with a glass or bottle from the cellar.
From the beginning, the goal has remained the same: satisfy the palate using regional ingredients and turn a meal into a lasting memory. More than fifty years in, Domenico dal 1968 still delivers the honest, flavourful Roman cooking that first put it on the map.
