The story
Enoteca La Torre occupies a graceful corner of Villa Laetitia, a historic villa on the Lungotevere. The architecture is elegant and refined, and the pace here is different – slower, more attentive to the senses. The restaurant is run by Michele Pepponi and Silvia Sperduti, who lead a passionate team committed to gourmet dining. The atmosphere is exclusive yet welcoming, with outdoor seating and a dining room that balances light and colour.
Born in Gragnano in 1989, Domenico Stile is one of the youngest chefs in Italy to hold two Michelin stars. Before arriving in Rome, he trained at Alinea in Chicago and worked with Gianfranco Vissani, Enrico Crippa, Massimo Bottura, and others. Since February 2016, he has been at the helm of Enoteca La Torre’s kitchen. His cuisine is concrete and Mediterranean, drawing clear inspiration from his Neapolitan origins. Many of his dishes are seafood-based, with vivid flavours that demonstrate a deep knowledge of tradition and a constant drive for experimentation. The result is a contemporary style that feels both rooted and inventive.
The restaurant offers several ways to experience Stile’s cooking. Guests can choose from a la carte (three dishes for €200, with an additional dish at €40) or opt for a tasting journey. “A journey with eyes closed” is a six-course tasting menu at €230, celebrating the chef’s decade from 2016 to 2026. The “Remuage” menu is an eight-course progression at €260, described as a new tasting path. Both menus are designed for the entire table, and for groups larger than five, a tasting menu is recommended.
The wine programme at Enoteca La Torre is a destination in its own right. Since 2013, Chef Sommelier Rudy Travagli has overseen a cellar that began in the 1980s in Viterbo. Today, nearly a thousand bottles are listed on the menu, with even more stored in the historic cellar carved into Viterbo’s ancient walls. The by-the-glass selection features over 150 labels. In 2022, the restaurant was named Best Wine Cellar in Italy by Le Guide de l’Espresso – a recognition that speaks to the scale and quality of the offering.
Enoteca La Torre has held two Michelin stars for excellent cooking, a distinction that reflects the precision and soul in Stile’s contemporary cuisine. The team’s commitment to hospitality, detail, and love of the craft makes every meal here an understated journey.
