The story
In 1908, Giannetto and Carolina Franciosi – known as Pizziga – opened a locanda in Sant’Agostino. It was a place of warmth, with wood stoves always lit and a genuine spirit of hospitality. The name “La Rosa” is believed to honour their first daughter, Rosa, who passed away that same year. More than a century later, that same welcoming spirit lives on under the Malaguti family.
At Trattoria la Rosa 1908, chef Adriana and Francesco Malaguti honour the region’s culinary roots while bringing a distinctly original touch. Their menus follow the seasons and the daily market, always anchored by Emilian classics such as hand-rolled tagliatelle with ragù, and tortellini made by hand and served in a rich hen-and-beef broth. The kitchen sources exceptional ingredients: guinea fowl from local farms, Piedmontese meats, truffles from the nearby Bosco di Panfilia, and local asparagus. The result is a cuisine that feels both timeless and surprising.
With just forty seats, the trattoria offers an intimate, refined atmosphere. A private room is available for working lunches or more private dinners. The same care extends beyond the restaurant walls through the family’s catering arm, fuoriROSA, which brings live cooking to events across northern Italy.
The Michelin Guide has consistently included Trattoria la Rosa 1908 in its selection – for 2024, 2025, and now 2026. This recognition reflects the family’s unwavering commitment to quality, from the warmth of the welcome to the precision of each plate.
