The story
For nearly thirty years, Il Buco has been the home of patron Peppe Aversa in the heart of Sorrento. This Michelin-starred restaurant, recognized for its high-quality cooking, sits along the ancient walkway connecting the city to the port, with intimate tables tucked into the lush Mediterranean vegetation on its terraces.
The restaurant’s philosophy is rooted in treasuring regional values while experimenting with new flavours. The result is a modern Mediterranean cuisine where regional and international inspiration find original, surprising balances.
Il Buco offers three distinct atmospheres. Upstairs, the contemporary open kitchen is paired with an elegant yet casual setting in Il Salotto. The Iconic Room is the foundation of the restaurant’s journey, a true representation of how its style has evolved with contemporary design and art. Outside, along the characteristic steps of the coastal urban architecture, the terraces offer dining surrounded by the scents and greenery of the Mediterranean.
Chef Peppe Aversa believes that food is the key to memory. His cooking is described as a new culinary art where creativity is enriched by memories. Guests are welcomed as new and old friends, many choosing to return for dishes that have remained in their hearts, or to try new creations inspired by the chef’s passion and flair. Before dinner, the wine cellar invites guests to a pre-dinner tasting guided by the sommelier, with choices from an extensive wine list.
