The story
Pavāru māja sits in Līgatne, far enough from the city to leave daily obligations behind, yet close enough to return when needed. Owner Ēriks Dreibants, who spent years leading ornithology tours in the area, saw Līgatne as a destination worth sharing. His vision: a restaurant where guests can be together unhurriedly, experiencing the brightest flavours of the region.
The kitchen works with produce from nearby farmers and wild ingredients, changing the menu with the seasons. “We cook so that the product is used from nose to tail,” the restaurant states. Guests can choose between a four-course lunch (49.99€) and an eight-course dinner tasting journey (99.99€), each a three-hour affair offered Thursday through Sunday. Wine pairings, a mix selection, and non-alcoholic pairings are available. The compact, contemporary wine list is curated by Raimonds Tomsons, World’s Best Sommelier 2023.
Sustainability is woven into the running of Pavāru māja. Organic kitchen and bar waste is composted and returned to the garden as new soil for herbs and vegetables. The restaurant also works with Slow Food members to revive old Latvian varieties. This ethos extends to the atmosphere: warm, welcoming, and deeply connected to the nature that surrounds it.
Pavāru māja’s dedication to modern cuisine made from local, seasonal ingredients earned it a Michelin Recommended award in 2026. The guide’s recognition underlines what guests have long praised—a place where every detail, from the hospitality to the carefully nurtured flavours, creates an experience that lingers.
