The story
Amélys sits inside Hôtel Le Royal on Luxembourg City's grand Boulevard Royal. The dining room is contemporary, done in warm colours, with an open kitchen that lets guests watch the cooks at work. During summer, a calm and shaded terrace extends the experience outdoors. Breakfast is served as a generous buffet each morning, while lunch and dinner follow a menu built around fresh seasonal ingredients.
Chef Paul Fourier leads the kitchen, offering a modern interpretation of French and Luxembourgish traditions. The weekly-changing business lunch might begin with carpaccio of tomatoes and burrata or a Gromperekichelcher (potato fritter) with trout tartare, followed by fish with lemon risotto or Judd mat Gaardebounen cooked low and slow. Desserts from the pastry chef — a macaron with raspberry and Espelette pepper, a vanilla crème brûlée with black berries — are as precise as they are elegant. The Sunday brunch and the Friday-to-Saturday Dîner Royal tasting menu showcase the kitchen’s range.
The restaurant’s consistency and commitment to high-quality modern cuisine earned it a spot on the Michelin Guide’s recommended list. That recognition reflects what the menu already makes clear: produce is chosen carefully, techniques are sound, and the cooking focuses on clean flavours. It is a restaurant that does what it sets out to do — refined, approachable, and very much of its place.
