The story
Chiado is the Macao outpost of celebrated Portuguese chef Henrique Sá Pessoa, a two-Michelin-starred chef who oversees eight restaurants across Portugal and abroad. His culinary series Comtradição airs on Portugal’s 24Kitchen and Disney+, and he has authored several cookbooks. At Chiado, his concept is defined by premium quality ingredients, prepared authentically to let them shine, and presented with elegance. The warm, friendly service and an extensive wine cellar focused on Portuguese classics complete the experience.
Located on Level 2 of The Londoner Macao (Shop 2206), Chiado serves dinner from 5:30pm to 10:30pm, closed Tuesdays. The dress code is smart casual, and children under 10 are welcome only in the private dining room. The restaurant has earned a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence (2024) and is a Michelin Selected Restaurant, reflecting its commitment to quality.
Chiado’s a la carte menu features Portuguese classics with modern touches. Standout dishes include braised seafood rice with lobster, red prawns, banana prawns, mussels, clams, and fresh coriander; “Cobblestreet” salted cod with egg yolk and onion puree; and clam and coriander xerém with bulhão pato sauce, glazed lobster, and Sichuan pepper oil. The kitchen also offers two degustation journeys: the Chiado Degustation Journey (MOP898+) and the “Costa a Costa” menu (MOP1,388), which translates as “Coast to Coast” and celebrates seafood in every course. Chef Sá Pessoa describes his style as “tasteful cuisine” – refined taste, perfect technique, and excellent produce.
The Wine Spectator award highlights the restaurant’s extensive cellar, which leans heavily on Portuguese classics. The wine pairing option for both degustation menus is an additional MOP588, allowing guests to explore the full breadth of the country’s wine regions alongside the food.
