The story
Tucked inside a former warehouse at the Hin Bus Depot, Au Jardin welcomes guests through a private garden entrance. Lush greenery lines the path, setting a quiet, natural tone before you even step inside. The name itself – French for “into the garden” – hints at the restaurant’s guiding philosophy: a seamless blend of the outdoors with refined French-inspired cooking.
Established in 2018, Au Jardin earned a Michelin star in 2022, becoming one of Malaysia’s first recipients of the honour. The recognition speaks to the team’s dedication, from early-morning ingredient selection to late-night refinement of each dish. The kitchen, led by Chef Kim Hock, works with a clear ethos: nourishing with hands and heart.
The menu is a celebration of Malaysia’s rich harvest. Over the years, the restaurant has shifted to using 85 percent locally sourced ingredients, integrating local traditions while keeping French techniques at the core. Two degustation options are offered:
Both menus change with the seasons, reflecting what is fresh and available.
The dining room occupies the restored warehouse space, with high ceilings and an air of calm. A smart dress code is observed, and the restaurant opens for lunch and dinner Thursday through Sunday. For younger guests, designated time slots and a kids menu are available.
Au Jardin’s story is one of place, patience, and produce – a garden brought indoors, one plate at a time.
