The story
The Harbour Club occupies a carefully converted warehouse built in 1712 by the 64th Grand Master of the Order of Malta, perched on the edge of Valletta’s Grand Harbour. The space balances history with quiet elegance: indoors, a cosy interior decorated with a recycled deck from an American ship; outside, a terrace where the view of the harbour – one of the world’s most stunning natural ports – becomes part of the meal. The team describes the restaurant as “a holistic experience that influences all our senses,” and the setting delivers on that promise.
The kitchen works in a Mediterranean style with a French influence, leaning on seasonal and local ingredients. The menu changes regularly, but past dishes have included local roast pork belly with black garlic mash, Mediterranean fish pie with fennel and orange salad, and a vegan tasting menu. A separate vegan tasting menu is available, and the wine list is curated to pair with the cooking. The restaurant’s commitment to quality and consistency earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026.
Service is attentive and unhurried, matching the refined but relaxed mood. Whether dining indoors surrounded by warm wood and soft lighting, or on the terrace with the harbour lights reflecting on the water, the experience feels both special and genuine. The Harbour Club is a place where the food, the setting, and the history of the site come together naturally – a rare combination that rewards repeat visits.
