The story
Kiosco Verde began in a small fishing village, Puerto Juárez, long before Cancún became the city it is today. What started as a corner grocery store with just five tables soon became a place where locals and early builders stopped for breakfast, lunch, and dinner – from 7:00 am until 11:00 pm. The owners recall those early days with fondness: the chaos of serving hot meals to everyone who walked in, always with a welcoming spirit and a home-style sazón that kept people coming back.
That same spirit carries on. Over the years, the restaurant has weathered hurricanes and public works, moving and rebuilding its palapa structure a few metres back from the road, but never losing its character. Today, it’s a relaxed, open-air spot where diners sit under the thatched roof, surrounded by the easy-going energy of the neighbourhood.
While the menu changes with the seasons, seafood is the constant thread. The kitchen leans into the flavours of the coast – think fresh fish, shellfish, and ceviches prepared with the confidence of cooks who have been doing this for generations. The dessert list is a celebration of Mexican sweets: flan, coconut ice cream, mamey, zapote, and a buñuelo de queso mascarpone with coffee sauce are among the options. A full bar offers spirits, beers – including local labels like Montejo, León, and Pacifico – and classic prepared beers such as micheladas.
The restaurant also hosts private events: baptisms, theme dinners, and parties. The same warmth that defined those early days in Puerto Juárez is what earned Kiosco Verde a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026 – a recognition that feels less like a trophy and more like a nod to decades of honest cooking and genuine hospitality. It’s a place that doesn’t try to impress; it simply serves, and that’s why people return.
