The story

Amaral: Spanish Fine Dining in Mexico City’s Polanco Neighborhood

A Spanish Table in Polanco

Amaral brings the spirit of the Iberian Peninsula to Mexico City’s Polanco district, inside the Hotel Presidente InterContinental. The restaurant offers a refined take on Spanish cuisine — from arroces and tapas to grilled meats and seafood. The dining room balances design with comfort, with soft lighting and art that encourage long conversations over wine and food.

The Chef’s Vision

The menu was created by chef Brockmann, drawing on her travels and memories. She combines European techniques with a personal, creative touch. Dishes like Galician-style octopus, Iberian ham croquettes, and the St. James-style arroz a banda reflect a respect for tradition while allowing room for surprise. The kitchen also offers gluten-friendly and vegan options, and a dedicated children’s area on weekends.

The Menu

The extensive menu spans pintxos and tapas, salads, soups, rice dishes, and larger plates. Standouts include the truffled bikini sandwich with Idiazábal cheese and Iberian ham, the lobster rice, and the 35-day aged xuletón. Desserts like torrija brioche and flanísimo flambéed at the table end the meal on a sweet note. The cocktail program, described as “liquid luxury,” complements the food with inventive drinks.

Award-Worthy Wine Program

Amaral’s wine list earned a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence in 2025, recognizing its depth and quality. The selection spans Spanish regions — Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Priorat — and beyond, with pairings designed to enhance each dish. Wine dinners and pairing experiences are a regular part of the restaurant’s offering.

An Evening in Polanco

Located on Campos Elíseos, Amaral is easily accessible from Paseo de la Reforma and Chapultepec Park. The atmosphere is polished yet welcoming — a place where the food and the setting work in harmony, whether for a business lunch, a romantic dinner, or a gathering with friends.
