The story
In the Polanco neighborhood of Mexico City, Er Rre un Bistró began with a happy accident. Chef Lorea and her partner Juan José stumbled into what they call an "errrrror" – a mistake that sparked a project full of life. From that first misstep, the vision was clear: to create a family-oriented space where neighbors feel at home.
The kitchen at Er Rre un Bistró draws from memory. The dishes are not just food; they are echoes of flavors from the past, designed to transport diners to moments of enjoyment and pleasure. The aim is to form new memories around the table, in a setting that is close, welcoming, and authentic. The team is the priority here – a warm, familial atmosphere for staff that translates directly into the experience guests take away.
The menu reads like a thoughtful, contemporary international collection. Start with oysters with heirloom tomatoes and toasted pine nut dressing, or a beef tartar framed in brioche. A daily crudo comes with pickled lemon gelée and green oil. Crispy battered oysters are paired with tarragon aioli. For heartier plates, there is beet risotto, orzo with crab in its own broth, spaghetti with clams, and a roasted milk-fed half chicken with seasonal vegetables and jus. The steak options include a filet with green pepper sauce and an onglet seared in its own juices with cubed potatoes. Desserts include a near-pecan pie with thyme gelato and a chocolate volcano that takes 20 minutes to prepare.
Er Rre un Bistró has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, a recognition that aligns with its thoughtful, ingredient-driven cooking. With counter dining available, it offers an intimate way to watch the kitchen at work in the heart of Polanco.
