The story
On Álvaro Obregón in Roma Norte, Tacos del Valle serves what it calls “tacos buenos y ricos” – good and tasty tacos – drawing from the traditions of northern Mexico. The restaurant’s name nods to its Monterrey roots, and the space evokes the golden era of Mexican cenadurías, with a nostalgic, welcoming atmosphere.
The menu is built around a series of trompos, a northern-style spit-roasted meat that differs from the more familiar pastor. Here you’ll find a trompo of premium beef carne asada, a pork belly trompo rojo, and the standout Trompo Negro Fuego: pork and pork belly marinated with a special blend, finished with a touch of black chili ash. The Tijuanita is a signature – a flour or corn tortilla with a cheese crust, carne asada, avocado, and crispy golden shredded potato. Other options include a tostada with red beans, carne asada, and a cabbage slaw in green salsa, plus flautas filled with the house’s special mashed potato, bathed in a creamy avocado sauce.
Tacos del Valle earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026, a recognition for good quality, good value cooking. It’s a testament to the kitchen’s willingness to experiment within Mexican cuisine, reinventing classics without losing their soul. The result is a place where every taco feels both familiar and surprising.
