The story
Pangea opened in 1998, a project imagined by chef Guillermo González Beristáin, Cristina Arechavala, and Eduardo Morali. It quickly became a benchmark for contemporary Mexican cooking in Monterrey and the entire northeastern region.
To mark its 25th anniversary, the team released a book chronicling the restaurant's evolution. The volume, designed to celebrate and share with guests, contains 45 representative recipes from the menu, allowing home cooks to try their hand at dishes that have defined Pangea's identity. The book also profiles the three partners, offering insight into the restaurant's philosophy and the group it has grown into.
Pangea's influence extends beyond Mexico. For ten consecutive years, it has earned a place on the Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants list, a testament to its enduring appeal. In 2026, the restaurant received a Michelin star, the guide's recognition of high quality cooking. This award places Pangea among a select group of restaurants in Mexico that achieve such distinction.
Located in Parque Arboleda on Avenida del Roble, Pangea offers both indoor and outdoor seating, making it inviting for various occasions. The menu, described as contemporary Mexican, changes with the seasons, but the kitchen's precision and respect for ingredients remain constant.
Beyond the main restaurant, Pangea runs a gourmet catering service and a wine shop. The Pick & Go option provides a convenient way to enjoy the restaurant's cooking at home, with the same hours as the restaurant (lunch through late evening, closed only briefly on Sundays).
The team under Guillermo González Beristáin continues to push forward, guided by the same vision that started it all: to offer a distinct, elevated take on Mexican cuisine, served in a space that feels both special and comfortable.
