The story

Beulings Amsterdam – Michelin Recommended Contemporary Fine Dining in the 9 Streets

A quiet table on Beulingstraat

On a peaceful street in Amsterdam’s 9 Streets district, Beulings has been serving a seasonal tasting menu since 2008. The room is small, the atmosphere personal. An open kitchen brings a sense of craft without fanfare. This is fine dining that feels discreet.

The people behind it

Bas Bont and Lisja Hu opened Beulings after years of experience at renowned Amsterdam restaurants including La Rive, Het Tuynhuys, Segugio and Van Vlaanderen. They met in 2000 and spent the following years refining their vision of gastronomy. That vision is simple: get the best out of seasonal products with careful selection and preparation. Their approach has earned Beulings a place among Michelin’s Recommended restaurants, a recognition that reflects the quiet consistency of their work.

What’s on the table

The kitchen works with a set tasting menu, changing with the seasons. The style is contemporary, drawing on modern French and international influences. In June 2026, the restaurant celebrates 18 years with a special 18-course tasting menu that honours favourite moments across classic bites, izakaya omakase, Mediterranean mezze, Asian fry and French connection. The regular menu follows the same philosophy: creative, ingredient-led, built around what is best at the moment.

The wine pairing

Wine is taken seriously here. Each bottle is carefully selected, and the wine pairing is considered an integral part of the meal. For those who prefer a bottle, the list reflects years of passion and tasting. A non-alcoholic pairing of juices, teas and mocktails is also available, but requires advance notice.

Private dining and more

From Sunday to Wednesday, the restaurant can be booked privately for groups up to 24 guests. This makes Beulings a natural choice for celebrations, business dinners or any occasion that calls for an intimate setting without the crowds. The restaurant also offers outdoor seating in season, a chef’s table experience, and meal kits for takeaway.

Beulings is open Thursday through Saturday for dinner. The kitchen describes its cuisine as French, modern, international and organic. In a city of many dining options, this quiet spot on Beulingstraat stands out for its steady, personal approach to contemporary fine dining.
