The story
At Lazuur in Amsterdam-Noord, the cooking is French with a clear Portuguese accent. The team describes itself as a small, young group of enthusiasts, each with a pronounced passion for food, drink, quality, and pleasure. That energy translates directly to the plate.
The menu is offered à la carte or as a five-course Chef's Menu. Dishes change with the seasons, but recent examples show the kitchen's confident hand: cauliflower with yellow curry and capers, mussels with chorizo and tomato, and a signature take on bacalhau com natas — salt cod with potato, autumn truffle, and bergamot. A rouleau of poulet noire with a bouquet of vegetables and house-made pancetta nods to classic coq au vin, while a vegetarian path runs through the menu with options like onion soup with gougères and comté, or gnocchi with wild mushrooms, chestnut, and sherry.
Desserts lean into the same precision: fig leaf ice cream with figs and chocolate, or blackberries with yoghurt, mint, and caramelised sunflower seeds. The meal closes with coffee and house-made friandises.
Lazuur has a stated ambition: to become the address for a good glass of port and Portuguese wine in Amsterdam. The wine list is almost exclusively Portuguese, organised by style rather than region — a practical choice given the country's hundreds of native grape varieties and unique Atlantic climate. Port gets its own dedicated selection, available by the glass, with a regularly rotating lineup of special and hard-to-find bottles. Guests can also opt for a flight of small glasses showcasing different styles.
With a Michelin Recommended award for 2026, Lazuur has been recognised for its consistent quality and distinctive identity. It's a restaurant that knows exactly what it wants to be — and delivers it with warmth and precision.
