The story
At Restaurant Old Skool, the name hints at a fondness for tradition, but the kitchen looks firmly forward. Hosts Milena and Johan Visser run this intimate spot in Druten with one clear aim: “Our guests a beautiful afternoon or evening – that is our greatest drive.” The Michelin inspectors agreed, awarding the restaurant a Recommended distinction in 2026, a nod to the quality and care that define every visit.
The menu rotates through a vegetable-focused Groentemenu, a signature Old Skool menu, and a seasonal Op=Top menu. The cuisines – BBQ, Italian, and Modern – blend into a style that is both playful and grounded. The open kitchen and a large terrace let guests settle into the relaxed, personal atmosphere the Vissers cultivate. “We already give you a foretaste of our restaurant, terrace, and cooking school,” the team writes, and that foretaste translates into a genuine sense of welcome.
Old Skool also houses a cooking school, where amateur cooks can explore everything from vegetarian and French to Italian, Spanish, and even fermentation workshops. A small shop sells BonBoDa chocolates, gift vouchers, and Thermomix machines – a natural extension of the restaurant’s passion for good food shared. Whether you come for lunch (Thursday to Saturday) or dinner (Tuesday to Saturday), the focus stays on honest, inventive cooking served without pretence.
