The story
At Bistro Sophie on Eindhoven’s Wilhelminaplein, chef Dejan Gavrić runs a kitchen that has earned a Michelin Recommended rating. The restaurant’s modern cuisine draws on Mediterranean flavours and worldly influences, built around high-quality ingredients.
The room sets a comfortable tone: linen-draped tables and an intimate bar where evenings begin with an amuse, a cocktail, or a glass of bubbles. The atmosphere is stylish but relaxed, suited to a romantic dinner, a business meeting, or an evening with friends.
Diners can order à la carte or choose the Chef’s Surprise Menu (four, five, or six courses, also available in a vegetarian version). The à la carte starters include two preparations of seabass with a corn mousse and vadouvan, or Dutch beef tartare with piccalilli ice cream. Main courses range from lightly smoked salmon with lobster and sepia linguine to Dover sole with lettuce, fries, and lemon. Desserts feature seasonal combinations like strawberry with yoghurt, basil, and meringue, or pineapple with mango, white chocolate, and passionfruit.
A curated wine list accompanies the menu, and for those who want the full experience, Sophie’s Signature Menu pairs five refined dishes with selected wines, table water, and coffee or tea. The kitchen also offers a cheese course—five varieties with nut-fruit bread and fig confit—either in place of dessert or as an extra course.
Bistro Sophie’s seasonal cooking and welcoming setting have made it a standout in Eindhoven’s dining scene. The Michelin Recommended recognition reflects a kitchen that balances precision with genuine warmth.
