The story
In the historic Weeshuis Gouda, a building that combines character, ancient vaults, and luxurious design, LIZZ offers a total dining experience. Chef Remco Kuijpers leads the kitchen with sensitivity and excellent technique, presenting French cuisine that highlights Dutch top products with an extra dimension from spices, fruit, and subtle Asian acidity. This approach earned LIZZ its first Michelin star, with the guide praising the attentive service and surprising wine pairings.
The restaurant offers two ways to experience its cooking. For those new to fine dining, the Casual Dining option provides a three-course menu, a low-threshold introduction at €65 per person. Available on Wednesday and Thursday, it draws from the daily Fine Dining menu, offering a representative impression of the chef’s work. For a complete culinary experience, the Fine Dining menu starts from four courses (€85) and extends to five (€100) or six (€120) courses.
LIZZ is open Thursday through Saturday for lunch and Wednesday through Saturday for dinner. Guests can dine at impeccably set tables indoors or on the terrace. The restaurant is part of the WSHS hotel, and the team describes the experience as "magical with a golden edge." As the only Michelin-starred restaurant in the region, LIZZ makes refined French dining accessible in a setting that blends old-world charm with modern elegance.
