The story
At Amused Food & Wine in Hardenberg, there is no à la carte. Chef Chiel de Groot works exclusively with surprise tasting menus. The guiding principle, repeated throughout the restaurant’s own words, is “creativiteit, product en beleving” — creativity, product, and experience. De Groot cooks in a modern way, building dishes around intense and fresh flavours. Gastvrouw and vinologist Corine Vink selects wines from around the world to accompany each course.
The kitchen follows the seasons. Ingredients come from a dedicated vegetable garden, and the menus change as the harvest does. Guests choose from four, five, or six courses: the Discovery menu, the Culinary Journey, or the Tasting Experience. A JRE All-In Menu is also offered, reflecting the restaurant’s membership in Jeunes Restaurateurs. Wine pairings are available by the glass, and extra options such as cheese or caviar can be added.
The setting is fine dining without the stiffness. Air conditioning, outdoor seating, and accommodation for dietary needs are all part of the service. Private parties are welcome. The atmosphere is relaxed enough to let the food and wine take centre stage.
Michelin inspectors awarded Amused a Recommended status in 2026, recognising the kitchen’s command of Modern French cuisine and the precision of the pairings. It is a quiet, confident spot on the Voorstraat — a place built on surprise and seasonality, where the best thing to do is trust the chef.
