The story
At Restaurant Pouwe in Hoeven, the philosophy is simple: pure food, prepared with care, presented with an eye for detail. The team describes it as “Puur, Fris, Beleving” – pure, fresh, and an experience. Every dish is built around a balance of sour, bitter, and sweet, with new flavours always at the centre of the kitchen’s attention.
Since 2018, Pouwe has been proudly awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand, a recognition for good quality, good value cooking. You can taste that commitment in every course, from the aperitif bites to the dessert.
The menu changes with the seasons, but always stays true to the restaurant’s creative spirit. For a classic taste of the kitchen, the Bib Gourmand menu offers three courses (€47). A recent version started with smoked haddock, buttermilk, dill, asparagus, and peas, followed by plaice fillet with gamba, pandan, palm heart, and rice, and finished with a lemon tart, rhubarb, hibiscus, and meringue.
For those who want to explore further, the Pouwe menu is a culinary walk through the kitchen’s best work – a 5-course (€68) or 6-course (€81) surprise journey, also available fully vegetarian. Dishes like short rib with diamond tip steak, shallot, parsnip, and bimi, or duck with Szechuan pepper, beetroot, and Tallegio cheese, show the kitchen’s ambition.
The restaurant is open for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday, starting at 18:00. On Monday, Tuesday, and Sunday, they open for groups of at least 15 guests. The atmosphere is suited for both business and private dining, with a focus on quality and honest pricing. Pouwe also hosts special events, such as the upcoming Fruit de Mer evening in July, packed with fresh shellfish, lobster, oysters, and prawns.
Whether you’re drawn by the Bib Gourmand recognition or the promise of a thoughtful, seasonal meal, Restaurant Pouwe delivers with warmth and precision.
