The story
Perched on the eighth floor of the Dormio Hotel De Prins van Oranje, Rantrée offers a panoramic dining experience that feels like a world apart. From its perch on the Dousberg, the restaurant surveys Maastricht and the surrounding landscape, setting the stage for a meal defined by seasonality and craftsmanship.
The restaurant opened its doors in 2014 and moved to this elevated location in 2018, a deliberate step toward a higher level of guest experience. Here, the team—led by chefs including Bram Berende and Max Hendriks—works with a philosophy rooted in balance: modern and classic, atmospheric and contemporary. The kitchen focuses on seasonal ingredients, crafting light, elegant dishes alongside deeper, more intense flavours. Vegetarians are equally well catered for, with playful combinations and thoughtful ingredients at the heart of every plate.
The wine list is anything but standard. Rantrée avoids familiar classics in favour of what they call “wines of the future”—small producers chosen for taste and craftsmanship. Sommelier Jennifer Silvius guides guests through a selection that spans France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, and South Africa, with an emphasis on discovery over convention.
This commitment to quality has not gone unnoticed. Rantrée holds a 16/20 score from Gault&Millau and has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, recognition that speaks to the precision and passion of the team.
Whether for lunch or dinner, Rantrée delivers a Modern French and seasonal fine dining experience that is both surprising and sincere.
