The story
In 2007, Armand Lennartz and Monika Chrobok took over Tabkeaw, a small Thai restaurant on Rechtstraat. Both had spent years working in Michelin-starred kitchens – a background that shaped their approach to food and service. What they found was a place with a “woonkamergevoel” (living-room atmosphere) and a genuine love for Thai flavours. They turned that into their own: a restaurant that serves honest, well-crafted Thai food without shortcuts.
The kitchen is run by Thai women who know the fine points of their cuisine. The owners describe them as “loyal, flexible, and hardworking” – a team that handles everything from the wok to the wash-up with care. Out front, the service staff make sure every guest feels welcome, whether dining in or picking up a takeaway order.
Tabkeaw’s menu is built around the four essential Thai tastes: spicy, sour, sweet, and salty. Everything is made with fresh ingredients and a respect for balance. The takeaway menu shows the range: from classic Phad Thai and Tom Yam Kung to rich curries like Panang Kai and Massaman Nue. The kitchen also caters to vegan and vegetarian guests, with plenty of options clearly marked.
The Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026 recognises Tabkeaw for “good quality, good value cooking.” It’s a fitting nod to a restaurant that refuses to cut corners – where the owners’ fine-dining discipline meets the warmth of a neighbourhood spot. No fuss, just flavour.
