The story
In the charming heart of Oegstgeest, along the Geversstraat, a remarkable culinary adventure found its home in 2017. Under the leadership of chef-patron Tom van Aken and host-sommelier Suzie, Suzie’s & Van Aken quickly became a gastronomic gem in the region. The restaurant’s innovative approach to modern cuisine has earned it a Michelin Recommended status, a testament to the quality and creativity found on every plate.
What began as a blend of classic French foundations with subtle Asian influences has grown into a celebrated success story. The kitchen focuses on next-level flavours presented in a relaxed, laidback atmosphere. The result is a dining experience that feels both refined and welcoming, where guests can let their senses be surprised by the inventive cooking.
The menu is built around multi-course journeys. Dinner options range from four to seven courses, with a seven-course all-inclusive option that pairs each dish with accompanying wines, bread, water, and coffee or tea service. Lunch is served on Fridays, offering three to five-course menus. A cheese supplement is available for both lunch and dinner.
The wine program is a living document. Beyond a selection of house aperitifs, the restaurant pours at least fifteen wines by the glass – including their arrangement wines and exclusive bottles served via Coravin. The wine list features top houses from iconic regions, such as Philipponnat in Champagne, Château Musar in Lebanon, Marc Morey in Burgundy, Yves Cuilleron, Dönnhoff, and Weinbach. The team is always ready to offer a fitting recommendation to complete your meal.
With its Michelin recognition, Suzie’s & Van Aken stands as a destination for those seeking modern French cuisine in a setting that values both culinary precision and genuine hospitality.
