The story
On the rural outskirts of Oldenzaal, in the village of De Lutte, Landgoed de Wilmersberg occupies a 1923 summer residence built for the Twente textile family Blijdenstein. Today it is a 4-star hotel, but its restaurant has earned a Michelin Recommendation for 2026, recognition of chef Ronald Bor’s thoughtful modern cuisine.
Bor and his team prepare multi-course dinners that reflect the season and the surrounding region. The “Lekker Culinair” arrangement features a five-course dinner with a matching wine pairing, served in the estate’s dining room. A three-course menu is also available, and vegetarian options are offered throughout. The cooking is refined, clear, and rooted in the Dutch landscape.
For lunch, the bistro serves hearty dishes from noon until late afternoon. Come evening, the focus returns to the full dinner service, where the pace slows and the kitchen’s best work appears. The wine list is carefully chosen to accompany each course.
The setting is unhurried and spacious. Guests are invited to start with a drink in the lounge before moving to the table. The estate’s calm atmosphere pervades the restaurant: generous service, genuine warmth, and a sense of place that comes from a hundred-year-old family legacy. The hotel’s Green Key Gold certification underscores a commitment to sustainability that extends to the kitchen.
Dining at De Wilmersberg is a proper occasion without the stiffness. The Michelin recommendation confirms what regulars already know: this is one of the most accomplished kitchens in Twente.
