The story

Restaurant Bomas, Sint-Oedenrode – Modern French Gastronomy with Michelin Recognition

Where Gastronomy and Passion Meet

In the heart of the Meierij, in Sint-Oedenrode, Koen Bomas and Inge Wollerich have created a restaurant that feels both fresh and deeply rooted. The building itself holds a rich culinary history: for Inge, it is a familiar place where she grew up, and for Koen, it is where he spent eight years working in the kitchen, honing his craft. Now, they write their own chapter here with Restaurant Bomas.

The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, a setting where refined gastronomy and genuine hospitality come together without pretense. The restaurant has already earned a place in the Michelin guide, a recognition that speaks to the precision and care in every dish.

A Modern French Kitchen

The menu is built around the seasons. Koen Bomas works with the best ingredients the time of year has to offer, turning them into elegant, flavourful plates that tell a story. The cuisine is Modern French, but the approach is personal and creative.

Diners can choose from a five-course menu (EUR 95) or a six-course menu (EUR 105), each available with a curated wine pairing. A four-course lunch menu is also offered at EUR 80. For those who want to go further, signature dishes like langoustine with pumpkin and bisque, or sweetbread with Madeira, leek, and potato, can be added as an extra course. A Wagyu A4 supplement is available for those seeking something truly special. A full vegetarian menu is offered, though the kitchen does not cater to a vegan diet.

A Personal Chapter

What makes Restaurant Bomas stand out is the sense of ownership and history. Koen and Inge are not just running a restaurant; they are building on a legacy. The result is a place that feels both ambitious and welcoming, where every detail—from the cooking to the service—reflects their shared passion.

Whether you come for lunch or dinner, the experience is designed to be memorable. The restaurant is open for lunch on Monday, Saturday, and Sunday, and for dinner Monday through Saturday, with Tuesday and Wednesday as closing days.

In September 2024, Inge Wollerich and her partner Koen Bomas opened Restaurant Bomas, right in the center of Sint-Oedenrode. The interior is sleek, modern, and stylish with earthy tones. Through the stained-glass window, you can partially see into the kitchen. Hostess and sommelier Inge leads the service team, which she directs with great hospitality and expertise. Chef Koen’s kitchen is classically French, making use of seasonal produce. For dinner, guests can choose from a five- or six-course menu, but we opt for the four-course lunch menu. We start with a glass of rosé cava from Mistinguett, Spain. Alongside the Iberian ham, which we order from the bites menu, three lovely amuse-bouches arrive at the table: a tartelette with pepper, feta, orange, and black olive cream, a tuna salad with crispy nori and wasabi, and boiled mussels with fried snap peas, chorizo foam, and puffed rice. The sourdough bread from Den Dungen with butter and olive oil pairs excellently with them. The starter is refined: thinly sliced scallops with yuzu vinaigrette and a duck liver mousse on a crisp made with squid ink and hazelnut. This is accompanied by a fresh 2024 Verdejo from Finca Tresolmos. Next comes pan-fried sweetbread with Madeira jus, mushroom foam, potato mousseline, chanterelles, and broad beans. The Grenache Gris rosé from Fram in South Africa is a perfect match. The pièce de résistance features quail with truffle, red wine jus, polenta, artichoke, and kohlrabi cream. Classic and powerful. Inge pours a Pinot Noir from Manz into our glasses. It turns out to be an excellent pairing. For dessert, there is goat curd with lime, sugar-syrup-pickled strawberries, crispy shiitake, magnolia ice cream, and a yogurt foam with magnolia, topped with wood sorrel. Beautiful summer flavors. Restaurant Bomas is a welcome addition to the region. A modern venue with classic craftsmanship and hospitality. Welcome to Lekker!
