The story
Opened in September 2024, De Kromme Bistro is a fresh addition to the Kromme Watergang estate in Hoofdplaat, near Vlissingen. The ethos is straightforward: almost every dish is prepared over an open Basque grill. The result is food that is simple, without fuss, and simply delicious.
The menu reflects a deep connection to the sea, with occasional meat and vegetarian options. Starters include Zeeuwse oysters, seabass carpaccio, clams, razor clams, and langoustines. Among the mains, you will find the day’s catch, Oosterschelde lobster, young turbot, and a paella for two. Meat lovers can choose from bavette, poussin, steak tartare, and an MRIJ côte à l’os for two. Desserts range from vanilla soft serve with various toppings to brioche glacé and tarte Tatin. A lunch menu from the chef is also available for €47.50.
This commitment to quality and simplicity has earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026, placing it among the notable grill destinations in the Netherlands. The atmosphere is welcoming, with outdoor seating and air conditioning available.
Open Thursday through Sunday for lunch and dinner, and also on Wednesday evenings from June to September, De Kromme Bistro offers a genuine taste of the region’s bounty, cooked over fire.
