The story
Eero occupies the rooftop of the former American embassy in Oslo, a building designed by the architect whose name it carries: Eero Saarinen. From this perch, guests look out over Slottsparken and the Oslofjord. The space shifts character through the evening – early hours are calm and bright, while later the energy rises with a playful, lively atmosphere.
Chef Charles Taylor leads the kitchen in the intimate 22-seat restaurant, where a wood-fired oven is the heart of the cooking. The seasonal tasting menu changes regularly, drawing on seafood and other high-quality ingredients. Dishes range from the much-talked-about bread straight from the oven to tartar, gambas, and seafood plates. For a more casual approach, the bar serves small and large dishes alongside cocktails and wines.
Eero holds a recommendation in the Michelin Guide, an acknowledgment of its confident cooking and striking setting. Norwegian press has been equally enthusiastic: Aftenposten gave it a five out of six, and Matogdrikke.no called it a “wood-fired heaven on the top floor.”
The bar and lounge offer classic and creative cocktails, plus a selection from the embassy’s award-winning wine cellar. In summer, the rooftop terrace becomes one of the city’s most spectacular outdoor spots, perfect for a drink or a full evening of food and drinks.
