The story

K2 Stavanger: Michelin-Starred Modern Cuisine Rooted in Sustainability

The Story Behind K2

K2 opened in May 2020 on Pedersgata in Stavanger, founded by married couple Elisabeth Kress and Ola Klepp. The space was barely decorated when they opened – they have built it brick by brick each year since. Their philosophy has remained unchanged from day one: create a sustainable restaurant that cares beyond the plate.

A Menu Shaped by Seasonality

The menu changes constantly, presented in around nine servings. It is built around a strict focus on seasonality, local connection, low waste, and sustainability. K2 always offers a full meat and fish menu or a vegetarian menu, and can accommodate vegan menus on request. They strive to cater to all food allergies, ensuring a complete experience for every guest.

Drinks and Pairings

The drink pairing mixes low-intervention wine with house-made cocktails, all based on the same seasonal, local, and sustainable principles as the food. A full non-alcoholic pairing is also available, built from infusions, house-made drinks, and local products. The kitchen itself makes the cocktails – both alcoholic and alcohol-free – further extending their craft beyond the plate.

Recognition for High Quality Cooking

In 2026, K2 was awarded a Michelin star for high quality cooking. The restaurant’s dedication to sustainability and craft, from the ingredients to the space they have built themselves, shines through in every detail. Head chef and co-owner Ola Solfridson Klepp, together with CEO Elisabeth Kress, continue to evolve the restaurant year after year, staying true to the concept that brought them here.
