The story
In Trondheim, Spontan has two stories to tell: the story of the wine bar and the story of the restaurant. To give each its own voice, the restaurant takes the name Saga. The result of seven years of operation and development, Saga offers a seafood-inspired tasting menu in warm surroundings. The kitchen practices a modern Scandinavian cuisine, with an unwavering focus on seasonal ingredients.
This approach has not gone unnoticed. In 2026, Saga was recognized as a Michelin Recommended restaurant, a testament to its commitment to quality and its distinct culinary identity.
The tasting menu at Saga comprises around ten servings, changing with the seasons and the catch. During the week, a smaller version is available, while Friday and Saturday are reserved for the full experience. The menu is built around seafood, reflecting the coastal location of Trondheim, and is adapted to the rhythms of nature.
The wine list, shared with the adjoining Spontan Vinbar, is one of the most interesting in Norway. It has been named the country's best medium-sized wine list multiple years running, offering a carefully curated selection that complements the food.
Saga also caters to private events, from intimate board dinners to larger celebrations. The space can accommodate up to 120 guests, combining both Saga and Spontan Vinbar. Whether it's a wedding, a corporate gathering, or a wine course, the team can tailor the experience to your needs.
With its warm atmosphere, precise cooking, and exceptional wines, Saga invites you to settle in for an evening that captures the essence of modern Scandinavian hospitality.
