The story

Bufet KRK – Modern Polish Cuisine in Kraków, Michelin Recommended 2026

A Place Built on Nostalgia and Hospitality

Bufet KRK welcomes guests in the heart of Kraków’s Kazimierz district with a simple conviction: to cook with love and offer the kind of reliability you expect from old friends. The team draws on a longing for the tastes of childhood, translating them into a menu that changes with the seasons. In 2026, the restaurant earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, placing it among Poland’s most promising modern cuisine destinations.

Seasonal, Local, and Unapologetically Polish

The kitchen works with organic produce sourced from nearby farmers and breeders, often reviving Polish ingredients that have been unfairly forgotten. Tradition meets modernity here: classic preparations are given fresh twists while retaining their soul. The wine list mirrors this approach, balancing vintage classics with avant-garde expressions from emerging wine regions.

Michelin-Recognized Hands in the Kitchen

Behind the concept is Przemysław Klima, a Michelin-awarded chef previously at Bottiglieria 1881, who invited Jakub Kojder—also a Michelin-honored chef—to collaborate. Together they craft dishes that feel both familiar and surprising. Marta Kania oversees the front of house, ensuring the warmth of Polish hospitality.

What’s on the Plate

The menu is divided into snacks, starters, mains, grill items, sides, and desserts. Highlights include a delicate pâté en croûte with salsiccia and smoked plum, grilled ox cheek croquette done “Mac&cheese” style, and “pierogi ruskie” enriched with bryndza and truffle. The grill section features lamb sausage with cassoulet, trout from Zielenica with saffron sauce, and Iberico pork with Arctic shrimp and X.O. sauce. Desserts are deeply personal: Karpatka mojej mamy (my mom’s cream puff cake) with raspberries, and a crème caramel with plum and cardamom.

The restaurant offers counter dining, outdoor seating, and takeaway—making it equally suited for a quick bite or a long evening at the table.

Interior and Atmosphere The interior features a minimalist and elegant design. The focal point is an open kitchen – seated on high stools at the buffet counter, guests can watch the team at work, admiring every step in the preparation of each dish. Kitchen and Chef This original restaurant concept was developed by a team with world-class international experience. Co-owner, chef patron, and mentor Przemysław Klima is well-known to food enthusiasts from his tenure at Bottiglieria 1881, while Jakub Kojder serves as head chef. Together, they have crafted a venue with a truly unique character. Drawing inspiration from Polish and European cuisine, highlighted by regional touches, premium ingredients, and modern cooking techniques, everything here merges into an impeccably refined whole. The menu is seasonal and adapts to the availability of fresh ingredients. Guests are also encouraged to ask about off-menu options, as the chef enjoys surprising them. The restaurant’s culinary mentor, Przemysław Klima, travels frequently to France—one of his favorite culinary destinations—and his insights and recommendations have inspired dishes such as exquisite pâté en croûte and heavenly crêpes Suzette. Service and Occasions Bufet KRK embodies the spirit of a French bistro – offering a refreshing alternative to fine dining. Here, everyone feels completely at ease, and the menu features both innovative creations and beloved classics inspired by childhood favorites, such as the karpatka cake made from the chef’s mother’s recipe. The relaxed bistro ambiance and thoughtfully designed layout make it ideal for hosting everything from intimate dinners to larger social gatherings.
