The story

Kogel Mogel Kraków – Traditional Polish Cuisine with Michelin Recommendation

A New Take on Polish Tradition

Just steps from Kraków’s Planty Park and the Gothic spires of St. Mary’s Basilica, Kogel Mogel brings a fresh perspective to traditional Polish cooking. The restaurant’s name, a playful nod to a classic Polish dessert of whipped egg yolks and sugar, signals its mission: to honour heritage while surprising and delighting.

The dining rooms are as characterful as the menu. Hafted Kraków bagels adorn the walls, and golden-feathered chickens lay golden eggs in painted scenes. A striking wine cellar, stocked with bottles from the world’s finest vineyards, connects to a lush summer garden where hydrangeas in pink and blue offer a quiet escape from the city bustle. With 130 seats indoors and 70 in the garden, the setting is spacious yet intimate.

The Menu: Polish Classics, Reimagined

The kitchen works with the best local produce from Małopolska, presenting familiar Polish dishes in unexpected arrangements. Starters such as goose liver pâté with wine gel and port jelly, or venison carpaccio with pickled mushrooms and rosemary mayonnaise, set the tone. The beef tenderloin tartare, seasoned with roasted mustard and mushrooms, is a refined take on a staple.

Main courses showcase the kitchen’s skill with Polish ingredients. The roasted half duck, served with roasted apple, cranberry gel, and citrus sauce, has earned particular praise from guests. Slow-cooked beef with carrot and fennel purée, and cabbage rolls stuffed with buckwheat and mushrooms in a truffle sauce, are equally accomplished. For those who prefer simplicity, the breaded pork chop with bone, horseradish, and fried sauerkraut is a masterclass in comfort.

Desserts include the namesake Kogel Mogel, here paired with Polish Solaris wine and raspberry mousse, and a warm apple pie made from the prized Szara Reneta apple variety.

Michelin-Recognised Quality

Kogel Mogel’s commitment to refined Polish cuisine has earned it a Michelin Recommendation in 2026, a mark of its consistent quality and thoughtful cooking. The restaurant is also an official partner of the European Academy of Gastronomy, and was part of Kraków’s year as the European Capital of Gastronomic Culture in 2019.

Guests consistently praise the professional service, the elegant yet welcoming atmosphere, and the way the kitchen balances tradition with creativity. Whether for a romantic dinner, a family celebration, or a business lunch, Kogel Mogel offers a genuine taste of modern Polish hospitality.
