The story
Restauracja Pod Jabłoniami stands near Mikołajek, where Mazurian cuisine meets the rhythms of the surrounding lakes. The property occupies a former agricultural estate hidden beneath mature apple trees in Stare Sady. Guests arrive through a private marina path that leads directly to the waterfront terrace.
The head chef visits local suppliers each morning to inspect produce by color and scent before deciding the day’s menu. This hands-on approach keeps the offerings short, seasonal, and deeply rooted in traditional Polish cooking. Diners frequently return for the bone-in pork chop, which remains the most requested item on the board. Lighter options feature hand-caught lake fish and pasta dishes prepared with herbs harvested from the on-site garden.
A recently expanded dining room lines the waterfront with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame uninterrupted views across Tałty. Rough-hewn stone and timber beams ground the space, while gallery walls display canvases painted during annual artist residencies held on the grounds. That blend of rustic comfort and curated hospitality earned an eleven rating from Gault&Millau. After meals, visitors unwind on loungers or hammocks shaded by the original orchard canopy.
