The story

Delicja Poznań – Michelin-Recommended Polish-Mediterranean Dining at Plac Wolności

"Nie możesz zatrzymać czasu, ale znacznie możesz zwolnić jego bieg." – this motto sets the tone at Delicja, a restaurant on Poznań’s Plac Wolności that has been slowing down time for guests since 1981. What began as a family venture in nearby Oborniki has grown into a refined dining destination where Polish tradition meets Mediterranean and French influences.

Chef Agnieszka Witaszak-Wawrzyniak

At the helm is chef Agnieszka Witaszak-Wawrzyniak, the first woman in Poland to receive a distinction from the Michelin Guide. Her cooking bridges heritage and precision – think pierś z kaczki with burak, seler, czarny bez, and poznańskie szagówki, or a delicate troć fiordowa with koperek, granat, and kawior z pstrąga. The kitchen draws on seasonal Polish produce while incorporating Mediterranean touches like fig, podwędzany kozi ser, and orzechy pini.

Tasting Menu & Wine Pairing

The heart of the experience is a degustacyjne menu (425 PLN) that unfolds over several courses – from amuse bouche and chleb & masło through to a finale of gruszka with crème de cassis, Pernod, and kardamonowe lody. A vegetarian version is available with advance notice. The sommelier’s wine pairing (5 or 7 glasses) is designed to complement each plate, reflecting Delicja’s commitment to thoughtful, well-matched wines.

For those who prefer to choose their own path, an à la carte selection offers starters like foie gras with czarna porzeczka and brioszka, and main courses such as befsztyk z polędwicy wołowej with espuma béarnaise and sezonowe warzywa.

Atmosphere & Events

The restaurant’s several dining rooms and the outdoor “Patio Pod Platanem” (open in warmer months) provide settings for everything from romantic dinners to kameralne przyjęcia. Delicja also hosts live concerts and culinary theatre events, often with seasonal menus and candlelit tables. The atmosphere is warm and unhurried – a space where food and art intersect.

Michelin Recognition

Delicja has held a Michelin recommendation since 2023, with the guide consistently acknowledging its polished cooking and welcoming service. For Poznań diners and visitors alike, it remains a place where Polish-Mediterranean cuisine is executed with quiet confidence and genuine hospitality.
