The story
Alewino started as a simple idea: combine excellent wines, delicious food, and perfect service into a relaxed atmosphere. Over twelve years, that idea has grown into a Warsaw institution – a place that blurs the line between wine bar and restaurant, earning a Michelin recommendation along the way.
The space on Mokotowska Street is the work of owners Kasia and Tomek, who built it around hospitality. What began as a wine shop evolved with their guests’ expectations into something more: a warm, casual spot where the kitchen and the wine list carry equal weight. The result is a place that feels both ambitious and unpretentious.
Head Sommelier Damian Zakrzewski oversees a selection of more than 250 wine labels, chosen from smaller importers and producers. The focus is on young, talented winemakers whose passion translates into quality and flavour. In the kitchen, Chef Daniel Uliczny works with fresh, seasonal, high-quality produce, relying on regional products and direct relationships with local producers. Tomasz Ostrysz and his team ensure the service stays professional while keeping the atmosphere relaxed.
Alewino’s menu changes with the seasons, built on fresh ingredients and straightforward technique. Recent dishes include beef tartare with mustard and potato pancake, Skrei cod with carrot and ginger, and a vegetable ‘tea’ with lovage olive oil. The kitchen avoids shortcuts, letting the ingredients speak. The wine list is equally considered, with bottles at various price points and a clear preference for smaller importers.
Alewino’s Michelin recommendation reflects what regulars have known for years: this is a place where careful sourcing, skilled cooking, and genuine hospitality come together. It is also recognised on the OAD Top 100 list. The team’s pride in these accolades is evident, but the focus remains on making every visit full of flavour and positive impressions.
