The story
In the heart of Warsaw’s Mokotów district, kontakt is the kind of place that lives up to its name. It’s a neo-bistro, wine bar, and wine shop that puts genuine connection at the centre of everything—between the kitchen and the glass, the sommelier and the guest, the classic dish and its contemporary reinterpretation.
The team is led by Piotrek Pietras, a Master Sommelier who has held titles including World’s Best Young Sommelier and 6th Best Sommelier of the World. He’s joined by general manager Maciek Łyko, Poland’s Best Sommelier 2019, and head chef Janek Wojtalik, whose CV includes Michelin-starred Senses and his own beloved Warsaw bistro. Together, they’ve created a space that’s ambitious but never stiff.
The kitchen reinterprets Polish and international classics with a seasonal, sharing-focused menu that changes often. The cooking is contemporary Mediterranean in spirit—precise, ingredient-driven, and designed to be passed around the table.
The wine list is the other star: over 400 bottles, chosen through direct relationships with winemakers and a clear philosophy. The team favours organic, biodynamic, and natural wines, and every bottle on the list is also available to take away from the shop. It’s a genuine wine destination, backed by regular tastings and a Terroirists Club for those who want to go deeper.
Kontakt is recommended by the MICHELIN Guide and holds a Bib Gourmand—an award for good quality, good value cooking. That recognition reflects what you find here: thoughtful food, an extraordinary wine programme, and a team that knows how to make you feel welcome without any pretence. Spread over two floors with four distinct spaces—bistro, chef’s table, wine bar, and the cobalt room—it works for an intimate dinner, a larger celebration, or simply a glass at the bar.
