The story
PaTaThai brings authentic Thai cuisine to Warsaw through a team of chefs who arrived directly from Thailand. Head Chef Surat Butsarkham leads the open kitchen from his native Udon Thani province, where Isan cooking tradition emphasizes intense aromas and layered heat. The concept launched in 2019 after the founders collected recipes during extensive travels across Southeast Asia. Guests watch the preparation unfold behind glass while aromatic herbs like lemongrass and galangal simmer in the background.
The menu anchors itself around classic preparations while highlighting lesser-known specialties from the northeast. Aromatic tom kha soup arrives steeped in coconut milk and kaffir lime leaves, while sataya offers tender proteins bathed in rich peanut sauce. Chef Surat’s own creation, phed sauce makham, pairs roasted duck breast with caramelized red onion and crisp pak choi. Every plate relies on carefully sourced ingredients like jasmine rice, fresh chili, and Thai basil to preserve the integrity of Thai cooking.
Emerald green walls and copper lamps frame a dining room designed to feel both polished and relaxed. Abundant potted plants soften the space, while an adjacent patio extends the seating during warmer months. The beverage program complements the meals with Thai wines served by the glass alongside house-made cocktails featuring lychee, coconut, and mint. This attention to detail secured an 11-point Gault&Millau rating in 2026, a recognition that aligns with the restaurant’s straightforward approach to presentation and service.
