The story
Conceito opened in 2011 in Bicesse, a short drive from the centre of Cascais. It was the realisation of a wide-ranging vision chef Daniel Estriga had always held about cooking, gastronomy and everything that orbits around it. Two years later, he met Vanessa Estriga, who became his wife, and the helm naturally became a shared endeavour. Today, the couple leads a team united by the same values: to provide the best possible experience to everyone who visits Conceito.
Daniel Estriga grew up in a family that ran a pastry shop for 37 years, yet he never thought his path would pass through the restaurant industry. The adrenaline of his first internship at the iconic Lisbon restaurant Bica do Sapato changed that. At 23, he opened Conceito – an act he still calls “a madness”. Along the way, he worked with chefs such as Paulo Morais, Bertilio Gomes, Miguel Castro e Silva and José Avillez, and spent time in renowned kitchens including Quique D’Acosta (three Michelin stars). In 2017, he moved to Dubai to open a new project, an experience that brought a fresh perspective on managing large teams and complex operations. Today, he also runs the pastry shop Delícia with his sister, works as an external consultant, and since January 2021 has held the most important role of his life: father to Alice.
The dining room is open to the kitchen, so the balance between the two is always visible. The team believes that the best experience is one of surprise and emotion, and they practise the art of welcoming from the moment a reservation is made. On the stove, the finest ingredients from local markets and producers are treated with care, respect and passion.
Conceito offers a single tasting menu, called Menu Viagem, which is revealed course by course – a true journey through seven unique moments. Priced at €82, it is designed to be savoured without hurry. Guests are asked to inform the restaurant of any allergies or dietary restrictions at the time of booking, so the experience can be carefully adapted. Children are always welcome, and a special proposal is created for them upon request.
This meticulous approach to contemporary cuisine has earned Conceito a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026, a testament to the consistency and passion that define the house.
