The story

Tia Alice: Traditional Portuguese Cuisine in Fátima | Michelin Recommended

A Family Story

In 1988, at the age of 53, Alice Marto opened Tia Alice with her husband and children. Her culinary knowledge was built entirely within her own family, reading recipes, experimenting patiently, and never settling until the flavour was exactly right. That same dedication to traditional Portuguese cuisine lives on in every dish.

The Menu

The menu is a celebration of Portuguese classics. Start with a Serrano ham with melon or pineapple, or a creamy Serra da Estrela sheep’s cheese. For mains, the bacalhau gratinado (served for two) is a house favourite, alongside açorda de camarão or a hearty arroz de pato. Meat dishes include vitela assada and chanfana, both cooked in a wood-fired oven. Desserts range from a conventual leite creme to a walnut cake with egg yolks.

A Garden Setting

Beyond the dining room, the restaurant has its own garden, a quiet space to enjoy a meal or a coffee. The atmosphere is welcoming and unpretentious, focused on honest, well-made food.

Recognition

Tia Alice’s commitment to quality has earned it a place in the Michelin guide, recommended for its consistent, heartfelt Portuguese cuisine. It is a restaurant that honours its roots while delighting every guest who walks through the door.
