Set within the award-winning Palmares Golf Clubhouse – named World’s Best Golf Clubhouse 2025 – Al Sud offers an intimate fine dining experience that draws its soul from the surrounding landscape. The restaurant’s name, meaning “the south,” signals its deep connection to the Algarve coast. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame sweeping views of Lagos Bay and Meia Praia, so that ocean light and coastal breeze become part of every meal.

Mediterranean cuisine, rooted in the region

The kitchen treats local ingredients with genuine respect and artistry. Dishes evolve from the sea and the land: fresh fish, seasonal vegetables, and the sun-ripened produce of the Algarve. Each plate balances texture, flavour, and emotion – a deliberate, unhurried approach that the restaurant describes as “slow living.” The cuisine is Mediterranean in essence, but the execution is contemporary and precise, earning Al Sud a Michelin star in 2022, 2023, and again in 2024.

The clubhouse itself was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning RCR Architects, and that same attention to detail carries through to the dining room. Tables are spaced for privacy, service is attentive without being formal, and the atmosphere remains calm and refined.
