The story
BAHR occupies the fifth-floor terrace of the Bairro Alto Hotel, overlooking the lively Praça Luís de Camões. The space is deliberately disruptive in design, breathing the bohemian and irreverent aura of the artists who once shaped Lisbon’s cultural scene. It feels sophisticated yet relaxed – a place where the city’s creative energy meets refined dining.
The kitchen takes centre stage, presenting the best of Portuguese gastronomy with a contemporary twist. Traditional techniques, local ingredients and time-honoured recipes are reimagined with precision. This commitment to quality has earned BAHR a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026.
The Menu de Mercado, available for weekday lunch, changes regularly. Recent offerings include braised sardines with vilão sauce and peppers, monkfish liver with lemon and grilled bread, and free-range chicken fricassé. The wine list highlights Portuguese producers, with options from Lisboa and Douro.
On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, BAHR serves a brunch menu from 1pm to 4pm, making it a relaxed spot for a late-afternoon meal on the terrace.
The outdoor seating allows guests to dine under the Lisbon sky, surrounded by the city’s historic rooftops. Whether for a market lunch, a weekend brunch or an evening dinner, BAHR offers a distinctly Portuguese experience in a setting that feels both timeless and current.
